INDIA...Here We Come!

After nearly 3 years of halt owing to the

COVID-19 pandemic, SWE Overseas is once again traveling to India, for our annual SWIndia Volunteer abroad trip! We will be teaching STEM outreach to students at Bharat's Children's Academy in Walchandnagar, India, and the TATA Institute of Social Sciences in Mumbai as well as visiting Jaipur, Agra, and Delhi! The trip is scheduled to take place from 29th April to 15th May 2023.

After nearly a day of travelling, we landed in Mumbai today around 2 pm. Thankfully, most of us were able to get some much needed sleep, while the rest of us were left fighting our insomnia. Clearing customs was a breeze, however the trip to our hotel was nearly 2 hours long owing to long traffic lines and road congestions.

We reached our destination safe and sound and had dinner at a local restaurant that specialized in South Indian cuisine like dosas, upma and idli, which was scrumptious.

Tomorrow, we are going to explore the Gateway of India (fun fact: our hotel is a 5 min walk away from the iconic monument!) before we make our way to Walchandnagar!

We all are super excited to work this the kids from Walchandnagar as most of us have been pretty active in SWE’s outreach activities. I am delighted to take my experiences in conducting outreach activities within SWE across the globe to India, and see how we apply our learnings and experiences to a whole different culture.
